Will I work with an Inkd logo designer?

An Inkd logo designer and project manager will work with you on every project, no matter which logo design package you choose. Unlike many other companies, our designers are experienced American designers based here in our Seattle office. We will explain the entire process to you over the phone or via email. All customers are welcome to contact us via telephone at (206) 905-4715.

How long does a logo take?

Usually the first iteration of your logo will be delivered within 24-48 hours of your order. This iteration is just the first attempt for your consideration. Depending on how quickly you are able to get feedback on your custom logo design, we are usually able to have a member of our team get your final logo files delivered with a few days.

What if I need my logo quickly?

You have the option to work with a single designer full time so that you can work from concept to your final logo concept in just 24 hours guaranteed. It is $199 for a rush order because it takes one graphic designer the entire day to deliver a concept that we think is of a suitable level of design. Even then, that's not a lot of time to deliver the perfect logo so this may not be the right option for you unless you really do need a logo quickly.

What makes a good logo?

There are a lot of viewpoints on this topic. What we hope people see about Inkd is that there is a certain level of graphic design capability that permeates our own website and the graphic design template submissions that we accept. Inkd has recieved accolodes for great design and its something that we take VERY seriously.

Here's what we think makes a great logo:

  • Impact. When you see the McDonald's logo what do you think? You think familiarity, reliability and instant recognizability. The first characteristic of an effective logo is that it has immediate impact. Your logo should catch the viewer's eye and hold the viewer's attention.
  • Beauty. A logo is a design. Designs should ALWAYS look good. Consider the UPS logo. Someone put a great deal of attention and care into the gradients, the lighting and the color harmony. All logos should be attractive. There are no exceptions. Poor font and color choices are usually the common indicator of an inexperienced logo designer.
  • Usability. The most commonly made logo mistakes usually involves issues of usability. A logo should just as good on a business card as it does on a shirt when embroidered. It needs to look good at large scale (such as billboards etc) and at very small sizes (online logos etc). If a logo has so much detail that it doesn't look good printed on a ballpoint pen then it probably isn't a great logo.
  • Applicability. Inkd doens't just provide logos that are great to look at. We know that a logo design absolutely must be relevant to the business that it is intended to support. If it doesn't support the business it was designed for then it just isn't a good logo. A whimsical, childlike logo probably wouldn't be a very good choice for a surgery center would it? Colors, type and imagery all must pertain to the tone and intent of the business.

What is a logo iteration?

Inkd's graphic design logo packages are primarily based on the concept of "iterations". Our typical process is:

  • Develop a creative brief over the phone or via email to understand your business objectives and your preferred style.
  • The first few logo designs are delivered for review.
  • An "iteration" is when we begin to make changes to the typeface and the color and in some cases modification of the shape / symbol / graphic based on feedback from the client.
  • Each time a customer provides feedback to an Inkd designer, we'll take that dialog and perform the necessary creative adjustments to include altering the graphics, changing colors, adjusting curves, smoothing segments, adjusting the logo typeface and updating the sybmol completely
  • Too many iterations (8-12) often suggests that there wasn't enough communication between the designer and the client at the time the creative brief was captured.

What logo file types are delivered with my order?

All professional logo designers should deliver your final files in the most common vector and raster image formats so that you can easily use the correct file version for whatever application you are working on at a given time.

Your logo will typically be delivered in a colored format but of course you can change it to black and white or manipulate it later. We deliver logos in a number of formats for your convenience.
